Economic conditions and realization of wood production

Forestry conducting in the woods of Vitebsk GPLHO satisfies national standards of steady woods management. All the 17 forestry enterprises of Vitebsk GPLHO have national conformity certificate of the forest management system of Belarus.

Following the principles observance and forestry conducting Vitebsk GPLHO gently treats the wood resources, which it manages. The agricultural actions, being held, are directed to effective multi-purpose usage of wood products and functions. In the whole, the system of forestry conducting is directed to the preservation of biological variety of woods in Vitebsk region and other resources, connected with wood – water, soil, unique and vulnerable landscapes.

Especially protected territories and woods with high nature protection value are singled out in the territory of Vitebsk GPLHO. Constant monitoring and protection of rare and vanishing animal and plant species is held. The places of habitation of the species, brought to the Red book of Belarus, are revealed and are under protection in territory of the wood fund.

Non-continuous methods of cutting are used during the wood stocking to preserve the forest. The part of non-continuous and gradual cuttings in the woods of Grodno GPLHO during the cutting of the main usage is 27.4 % from the total area of such cuttings. Besides, non-continuous cutting promotes natural renewal of the wood and allows forming uneven-age, difficult in structure woods in future, which are steadier against unfavourable factors of the environment.

Forestry enterprises actively conduct works on reforestation and afforestation. Wood cultures were created on the area of 3858 hectares in 2010, and in 2011 - 3817 hectares. In the nurseries of forest enterprises more than 100 kinds of wood and shrubby breeds are grown, both for the purposes of reforestation and afforestation, and for decorative plant growing. In the whole, works on reforestation are directed to the assistance of natural woods preservation and cultivation of the species of local origin.
